HANNAH VAN WAGNER : FOUNDING MAVEN

12 years in digital marketing + 5 years in restaurant marketing + my passion for working with people, make up the recipe that catalyzed Mad Maven Media. 

I’ve been working at the forefront of digital and social media marketing since the early 2000s, when Myspace was the big social media player and Instagram didn’t yet exist. I started my career at Ingrooves, the biggest online music distributor in the industry and digital arm of Universal Music. There, I lead online PR efforts, signed several local and national artists to digital distribution deals, and built their Urban music department from the ground up in my first year. At the time, artists had no idea what Itunes was and I was one the first to secure high-visibility feature placements on Myspace’s front page. It was during this time that I developed a passion for entrepreneurship, digital marketing and a fascination in leveraging social media to build brand awareness.

After learning the trade with some of the biggest players in the industry, I ventured out on my own and started Instrumedia, a social media marketing & PR business, working directly with big named artists like Snoop, Too Short and Lala Hathaway.  I offered front to end “New Media Marketing” services including,  content creation, website development, social media strategy, and online PR. 

In 2013 I was hungry for a change. Growing up in a family of Chef’s, I always had a passion for food and the hospitality industry. So I pivoted my career and combined my skills in digital marketing + my passion for food. I started consulting for Sun Basket, a national meal kit delivery service backed by celebrity chef, Tyler Florence, leading their influencer marketing and social media strategy. I was also leading the sales and online marketing for Bay Area restaurant chain, Bamboo Asia, where I also learned the ins-and-outs of restaurant operations, recipe development, and expansion.

Taking my passion to the next level, I founded Mad Maven Media in 2016, leveraging my marketing knowledge in the food industry and network of foodie influencers + content creators.  So far it’s been an amazing ride! I’ve worked with Michael Mina, Ayesha Curry, and several clients in San Francisco, Boston, Hawaii, and Houston.
